Northern Crown

Installed on Echo Lake in the small town of Charleston, Vermont, the floating sculpture imitates the shape of the constellation Corona Borealis, meaning Northern Crown in English.

The 12 disk installation functioned as a personal coronation for this region of Vermont (locally referred to as the “Northeast Kingdom”), at once adorning and celebrating the natural beauty of this relatively untouched corner of the state. The sculpture experiments with duality and comes alive at night through the use of solar charging landscaping rocks that produce an electric blue light, creating an ethereal effect on the water. The disks alternate between a mirrored surface that reflect the sky and a surface covered in luminescent rocks.
